French is one of the most popular language courses at Wits Language School. Whether for business, personal, social or cultural reasons, French is an excellent language to learn. French is widely spoken throughout Africa, and is the national language in twenty-two African countries.
The increasing business and cultural exchanges taking place between South Africa and Francophone African countries, as well as with France, provide all the more reason for individuals and corporate clients to learn or improve their French. Without a doubt speaking French can broaden opportunities in the areas of travel, work and study.
If you still aren’t sure if you want to learn French, here are some more reasons:
If you have studied or spoken French in the past and now wish to improve your speaking ability we will assess your competence so as to place you in the level best suited to your language ability. Click here to register with for an African or Foreign Language Course. We will then contact you to book a Pre-Course French Language Assessment.
Our French courses focus on developing your speaking skills. We will introduce you gradually to the new language and ensure that through practice and reinforcement your speaking ability is developed. We include grammar in our course, as an understanding of French grammar is important to help you incorporate this new language. In our lessons, English is kept to a minimum to help you become accustomed to the French language. Our teachers will make sure that you feel at ease while still ensuring you are actively involved.
Wits Language School offers French courses at three levels of tuition:
Level 4 (Intermediate) is available on request.
Each Level lasts around six months, with ninety-six hours of tuition*. To make it more convenient for you we have split the levels into modules of 3 months each (Module A and Module B). Modules break up the content into manageable chunks and give you more flexibility. You can work through the Modules and Levels at your own pace and based on your available time. At the end of Module A you will receive a Certificate of Attendance. At the end of Module B you will complete written and oral tests, and will be awarded a Certificate of Competence.
* Courses are run at reduced contact hours when a public class cannot go ahead. This requires all the students’ agreement and an understanding that you need to supplement your learning through additional self-study and independent work in the Wits Language School lab. Semi-private classes are only run when public classes of 8 or more students can’t be offered.
