Teachers in Language Teacher Education

Wits Language School invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who have teaching experience in teaching English as a foreign or second language, teaching practice observation and feedback and teacher training.

The Teacher Education Department offers a range of language teaching courses:

• TESOL – Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
• TEYL – Teaching English to Young Learners
• TBE – Teaching Business English
• Tailor-made language teacher training courses

Language Qualifications

• First language usage (or near-mother tongue fluency).
• Experience in teaching English as a foreign or second language in South Africa and abroad – preferably five years’ experience.
• Tertiary degree in language or education. If possible specialization in subjects such as: methodology and practice of teaching a foreign language.
• Degrees in related fields (applied linguistics, literature and language studies) will be considered.
• Professional language teaching qualification (TESOL, TEFL, CELTA).

Other Requirements

• South African citizenship or valid South African ID (permanent resident) or valid work permit (e.g. specialized skills visa) or study permit;
• Availability to work in the evenings and Saturday mornings;
• Own transport.

Remuneration

• Dependent on qualifications and relevant experience
