Lambrine Pavlou

Lambrine Pavlou – Course Coordinator

Lambrine Pavlou has a Bachelor of Commerce (Majors: Marketing and Psychology) and an Honours degree in Psychology from Wits University. She completed her Masters of Education (specialising in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at the University of Sydney in Australia. She completed the CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults) and is a qualified language instructor. Lambrine has over twelve years’ teaching experience and has taught English to both adults and children in Greece and South Africa. She believes that language is knowledge and it shapes the way we think and communicate. Her areas of interest include second language acquisition, bilingualism, identity and language education.
   
Sanchia Slater

Michelle Ponnen – EPD Facilitator

Michelle has worked in the English language field since 2004 and has been involved in teaching English as both a second and foreign language, in Taiwan (ROC) and South Africa. In addition, she has worked as a teacher trainer and a curriculum developer. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, specialising in both General and Industrial Psychology from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN) and a TESOL certificate from Intesol and the University of Witwatersrand. Michelle also possesses an Honours degree in Applied English Language Studies from the University of Witswatersrand. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Education.

Michelle’s interests include all aspects of language teaching with a special focus on helping second language speakers gain fluency, confidence and accuracy in their language skills. She has researched the use of language learning strategies and is committed to adding to this body of knowledge.
   
Sanchia Slater

Shameema Sarang – EPD Facilitator

Shameema, with a passion for books and words, has been involved in teaching and tutoring students in written English since 2012. She has tutored university students both online and face-to-face, been a consultant at a writing centre and an external marker at an institution of higher learning. After completing the TESOL certificate at the University of Witwatersrand in 2015, she began teaching English at Wits Language School’s English for Professional Development Unit at the beginning of 2016. Shameema holds a Bachelor’s degree specialising in English and Psychology and an Honours degree in English Literature.
   

Horst Günther – Corporate Course Coordinator

Horst has a Bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Production Management from the University of Johannesburg (previously known as the Rand Afrikaans University). The degree included a focus on communication and languages (English, French, German and Modern Greek). After completing a TESOL certificate from Intesol and the University of Witwatersrand at the end of 2013, Horst joined the English Communication for Professional Development unit at the beginning of 2014. He has extensive experience as a corporate facilitator in both South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as compiling and editing course material. Horst has a passion for incorporating film and audio elements in the teaching process to provide a dynamic and innovative environment, which ensures high levels of student engagement.
